Unhappy my 99 durango 318 5.2 blew

Hi all, just wondering if anybody knows if I can replace my 5.2 with a 5.9?? my 5.2 blew on the way home from fishing pulling our trophy..105,000 miles on it. husband changed oil right on schedule always. we have found a wrecked 99 durango with a 5.9 but the computer has already been sold out of the wrecked dodge. is it possible to put 5.9 in? if so what does that take? thanks

The 5.9L and the 5.2L have the same block so they are directly interchangeable.

A computer reflash will be needed or simply get a performance one shipped and programed to your door.

While it's out I would think about doing the trans.

105,000 is NOT a lot on a Durango. Un-fortune seems to have found you.

Default I agree Inday

yeah the 105,000 mile is not a lot on a Durango, I think the Durango can run 400,000 Mile at least with no problems.

my brother got Durang 99 , 5.9 L , 4wd, and it's now about 170,000 Mile without changing anything in the middle east.

thanks.

I am at 194,000+ on my 2000. Looks and drives like it has 40,000

I am iching on up to 89k on my 00. Ever since I got my tranny replaced last summer of 07, I have only tacked on a couple thousand miles with the gas prices as high as they were back then. Been driving my wifey's lil Jetta for everyday commute now. With gas prices coming back down, I may be able to drive my D a little more. But waiting to get new tires. I will be getting the New Longtrail T/A's touring edition which is a highway performace tire vs a all terrain tire. Cannot remember who in this forum posted good things about it. But I am always a advocate of BFG's. Been a BFG follower for over 20 years on all my vehicles.
