umm turn the truck upside down and thake the plug out

j/k

you could take the diff cover off but then you need a new gasket to replace the old one or you could just use a siphon through the fill hole and get as much out as possible that way

To me, I go to a persons shop I know and they siphon out the old and you want to install Fully Synthetic 80-90W.

Now turning the truck upside down and shaking it while the plug is out sounds great!

KD:

You can pull the cover, let it drain and clean the insides out with a dry non lint type towel.
Then, replace cover with RTV as a gasket. There is no gasket per se.

Second method is to pump the old stuff out through the inspection cover (rubber plug)

Then refill with a pump till it is just below the lip of the hole.

Should take around 1.75 quarts. Either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple synthetic is recommended.

If your fluid is OEM, you will be amazed at just how foul and dark it has become.

if you're going to go to the trouble of doing it, do it right. remove the cover and drain it, then spray out the bottom with brake cleaner or a little gas (don't smoke) and get the sludge out of the bottom, especially around the magnet. use rtv as a gasket. don't overtighten.

It's 75W90 in the rear diff. I recommend Mobil1.
