Default New here..... had a question.

Sup guys. New here to this board and looking forward to learning about my new Durango. Been on other forums for my SS and VW so I manage to get around. Anyway my friend pretty much gave me his 99 4X D cause of a cracked radiator that he didn't want to bother with. SO I scored.

Well I was searching and reading up on this car and thinking of lifting it. I pretty much came to a conclusion that I'm gonna do the front torsions 8 full turns to get the maximum 2"s (please correct me if I'm wrong) and put the shackles on the back. I read that the Durangos already have a dropped front stance, will adding the shackles keep it that way? Another thing is that I read that I can go with 33's with those 2 mods as long as I space the front bumper out a little. Is that right?

I appreciate the help and I'm looking forward to hanging out here on this board.

thanks

PS... I'm a jokester and that post looks wayyyyy to serious.

Hello and welcome to our section and to the DF.

Were all a little jokie around here and sometimes we can be ignorant but that’s the name of the game. Hope to see you around and enjoy. There’s a lot of great info on here so make sure you search and if ya can’t find it that’s why we are here.

They make 2 sizes of rear shackles for the torsion lift. You will need the larger one for the nose down appearance. As for the 33's they really need a little more room than that although I have seen them installed with the blocked bumper but at an occasional good rub. You really need a torsion lift and a 2 or 3 inch body lift. Personally I would not do it unless I did the lift. If I were you I would install a torsion lift (it's a hard ride cranked up all the way) with the smaller rear shackles for a more norm appearance and install 32's so you can get that nose down right where you want it.

Depending on where your torsion bars are right now (everyone's are different) is how high you can go. People move them to align the front end so they don't have to adjust the camber bolts because they are very hard to move and difficult to get to and people are lazy. So I can’t give you a definitive answer on the exact turns of the torsion bars.

I'll attest to that lazy remark. I actually noticed that my drivers side is about 1 1/2" lower than the passenger side. I was going to address that with firestone on my next alignment. I just gotta get the 2 year old recalled ball joints that have already failed off of my D.

Those 33's will definitely rub on the frame even if you keep them from rubbing on the bumper.
