Ouch. Well at least you kept it simple and didn't automatically assume it was something else.

The way I did it was to just unhook the battery and then hit my brake pedal and held it for a few seconds to drain any residual power and let it set for about 10 min. My whole problem ended up being my power steering pressure switch was out and leaking fluid down onto my front O2 sensor and shorting it out. I spent $20 on a new switch and so far the problem is gone. I also found out that if you turn your switch on and off 3 times and leave it on the third time that your odometer will give you the codes and you dont have to get a reader. You have to give your odometer just a few seconds to give you the codes and when it is done it shows you a P-done reading.

 

Disconnect the Neg side of the battery. Go inside the truck and depress the brake pedal for 30 seconds. Reconnect the Neg. Start the truck without touching the throttle and run it for about 15 seconds. Turn it completely off. Restart the truck and drive as usual. It will take at least 12 starts and 48 miles to fully retune.
