Default My fan is a little noisy

It kind of makes a small ratteling sound while running and when you shut it off the sound lessens. I can turn the fan fairly easily with the key off. Is this bad?

Which fan? The one connected to the water pump or the electric fan?

depends on how far the fan turns it should turn less than a 1/4 turn, and more than 1/2 the fan clutch is shot and you should replace it, most of us seem to have an issue with the fan making lots of noise when the engine is first started on a cold morning, sounds almost like a diesel IMO until it shifts into 2nd gear(at least that is the release point for mine)

this sounds exactly what I went through a few weeks ago
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-durango/179122-fan-clutch.html

My solution was I needed a new water pump and fan clutch.. The pump was causing the rattling noise, and my clutch was just about shot (very easy to spin, however not the culprit of any noise), so I replaced it at the same time.

I brought it to my local mechanic. I didn't have the time with school. The install shouldn't take too long, its the parts that are somewhat expensive. I don't have the bill so I couldn't tell you how much it cost me.

From my FSM
VISCOUS FAN DRIVE
If the fan assembly free-wheels without drag (the
fan blades will revolve more than five turns when
spun by hand), replace the fan drive. This spin test
must be performed when the engine is cool.
For the following test, the cooling system must be
in good condition. It also will ensure against excessively
high coolant temperature.

Although it could get pricey i would reccomend bringing it to a shop if you do not know how to. If you have some mechanical skills i would happily send you the proceedures on how to replace if this is an ASAP repair.
