Default transmisson issues

My 99 Durango has issues shifting the trannie, I looked at the fluid its filthy, took it to the shop they ran a test on it and found the following issues with the trannie.

P1756 (M) GOV Pressure Not Equal To Target @ 15-20 PSI The requested pressure and the actual pressure are not within a tolerance band for the Governor Control System which is used to regulate governor pressure to control shifts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. (Mid Pressure Malfunction)
P1756 (M) Governor Pressure Not Equal To Target @ 15-20 PSI Governor sensor input not between 10 and 25 psi when requested to be 0 psi. (4-speed auto. Trans. Only)

So what does this mean, do I need to get a new trannie, or can I have some repairs done to it without replacement. like selinoids?
and a flush with new fluid.

A buddy had the a flush then put Lucas oil transmission helper, and it solved his issues.

I am new here, don't know much about Dodges, because it's my wifies Truck. But I also don't want to go broke with buying a new trannie when maybe all I need is some TLC.

Thanks guys in advance, DAVE

Sounds like you shouldn't need a rebuild. The problem here is that the fluid isn't reaching the pressure necessary in order to activate the clutch packs in the tranny/it's taking too long to reach the presssure causing a lot of slipping. It could be solenoid issues or a gunked up valve body.

Thanks for the reply, so replaceing the solenoids and the valve body, along with a flush, could solve my issues with my trannie, right?
I also need to empty all the bad fluid in the torque converter too, to help thing along.
Maybe or maybe not this will solve the problem, I think it will.

I wouldn't replace the valve body just get it cleaned to clear out any gunky buildup. Tranny flushes are pretty much a big no-no. It can break deposits loose and plug small oroifii throughout the tranny.

Like Mean Green has said, don't replace the valve body. Just the governor and transducer. And replace the filter and flush the trans. While you are in the trans also adjust the bands too.

I would only trust the dealer for the transmission work. It's hard to find a good transmission shop these days. I know it's more money, but it's worth it in the end.

Nowadays you can't even trust the dealers anymore. Finding an honest and quality auto repair shop is next to impossible anymore.

Do your research on the shops in your area and you'll be able to find a good one...
