Default Transmission shift issues

My 2002 Durango R/T has been doing strange things on the highway. The RPM will jump up and down 500 RPM or so while you are driving normally down they road. Lately its started shifting at 3000-3500 RPM and like to downshift occasionally too.

80% of the time it shifts fine....any ideas?

Thanks,

Sean

When is the last time you changed the fluid/filter?

I would try the TPS first just because it is so easy and cheap to replace. Other than that it sounds like the torque converter lockup clutch may be slipping.

Throttle Position Senser ( TPS ) is the culporate.

The other thing is lockup and coast on the torque convertor. Check this out.

Thanks for the help!

I'll try the TPS and see how it goes.

Remember to tune in your new TPS to .72 at idle for best performance. It does make a difference!

You can try the TPS first and if that isn't it... Governor Pressure Solenoid.

Swap it out, service the transmission at the same time. Less than $500 total and good as new.
