I will say it again the axles will not hold up if you actually plan on putting that thing in 4wd...

With the givin torque that Green is talking about and how your question is proposed I fully agree.

As for the tires you would have to go recessed rims and oversized rims and measure. This question has never been asked so I don't know what to say to you but first thing first...... You have to locate the lift.

You could try to talk to a rim dealer but even they can't tell you without a measurement.

I know that mtndewnut has the lift in question and IIRC he has 35's (or did) and they looked too small for his ride.

Red face hmmmmmmmmm

ok im researching sas but the swap is not planned yet .is it safe to wheel with 33s combined with a 2 inch torsion shackle lift and a 3 inch body plus extended softer shocks to reduce wear on smaller and weaker parts on the ifs .this combo will only set me back 500 and only 350 if my cousin fabs and installs a 4 inch body lift to fit the 33s because i use my stock dango to pull friends out of the mudd and it could use some "longer legs" plus the dangos real strong two nights ago i went to pull my brothers cherokee on 33s and 7 inches of lift out of a bog and snapped the chain damn thing put a hell of a dent on my lift gate

First, your brother has 7" of lift on 33"s? Tell him to step up to atleast 35"s if not 37"s

and if he got an XJ stuck with 7" of lift. theres no way you got your stock Durango anywhere close enough to recover him hahahaha

first of all it has 33s on it cuz we just started it and im not putting bigger tires on it untill he proves he can drive it with out completely destroying it .considering the first week he had it he floored it backwards into a tree after i had a new rear window in the beast he splintered the back hatch and second both of my d's have pulled out way more than a cherokee with 33's ill try and find a pic f when i TRIED to pull out a grand cherokee by the bumper and the whole front clip came off long story

Oh the durango has the power, no doubt, but a 7" lift on an XJ even with the small 33"s, should be able to get threw alot before it gets stuck. a durango is a pig. heavy, weak front end, I can only see you being a recovery vehicle for him, if he is stuck in a mud hole in a field.

Although, the durango Tows the XJ to the trail nicely tho

I have the 3" pa body lift and T/S lift running 33/12.50-15s on my 2000 D. So far I have busted 2 front axle "HOUSINGS"!! Never chipped or broke a ring and pinion, or snapped an axle shaft. If you wheel your rig with 33's or larger, be ready! The housing is mounted in 3 places. One on each side and one right above the Diff. cover. This top one seems to be the weak point in my opinion. The torque from the turning axles puts a lot of stress on the top of the housing causing it to crack. Shocks wont help reduce the stress put on the housing. Just my input.

Good luck
Ted
