Well the snow that I have experienced, not unless your speeding. Question do you have a 4x4 or a 4x2? 4x4's are more stable on ice, but 4x2's are good also so don't be scared it is just a matter of your driving.

Well what tires do you have. Personally I would not think about stopping while going 25+ on snow. The tires make the diff you can check their snow rating....

When braking in snow, you shouldn't really apply constant pressure to avoid sliding. Use some, let off and apply a little more. I've never had issues with mine sliding much in snow, unless I'm doing 30+ in deeper stuff. If it's ice, well, most everything is going to slide on it.

I have found that my rig ( considering the torque I have ) that off the line is really bad. But again, this is true to the torque this thing puts out. The BFG KO series 31X10.5 LT15's does really great in the snow and give great all around traction.

If you are running regular touring tires then they get very hard ( almost plastic like ) and slide real bad. AT tires ( all terrain ) are softer which allow greater bite for slick conditions but do not last as long considering their softness. The up side to this is great on and off road traction including snow. For this reason the mud terrain tire is the softest for the most grip. They really ware quickly.

I personally think the best all around tire for everything is the BFG, KO series.

Also how much tread do you still have left on your tires?

Mine only slides when I want it to.

Seriously though look into some better tires. As hydra was saying the BFG AT's do great in the snow.

haha yea same here.. i can get all 4 to lock up if I apply the brakes hard at like 10km/h, anything higher than that, ABS kicks in..
Check your brakes that they are all good, and one isn't sticking, or worn all the way down.. If you brake hard on dry ground, do you brake straight? does ABS kick in?
and +23948442 on tires.. ESSENTIAL to have good tires..

this year Quebec made it Mandatory for every vehicle to have snow tires, which is why they're pretty hard to come by in Ontario. Quebec has received almost every shipment that comes into Canada.
