dire need of tech help
I am having a problem with my 2002 Durango 4.7L 4WD. I had a check engine light this morning, and plugged in my code reader and this is what showed up: P0700 and P0871. I saw that 700 is the TCM just reporting a fault, but I can't seem to figure out what this P0871 code is for. The truck only has 57,000 miles on it, and nothing has happened to it(no accidents, no recent service, etc.). I didn't even let my wife drive it.
Thank you in advance!

There is a sticky on the main Durango 1st Gen Threads to help you and everyone. Here is a link:Engine Code Index (Check Engine Light?) I did notice that it wasn't in the codes tho.
P0871 transmission fluid pressure sensor/ switch C circuit range
Changing out the silinoid might help or checking the fluid level.
You could try PM'ing master tech if he doesn't see this thread.

P0871 is an overdrive pressure circuit code. The problem could be a wiring problem, but could be the TRS ( transmission range switch ) which also the same as a solenoid pack on front wheel drive transmission. But since you have a 4.7 motor the solenoid pack is on top of the valve body. I would call the dealer or go to the dealer and run the vin number and find out if you still have powertrain warranty. If you have any question, just send a pm.
Hello,
This should be a 45RFE trans, the TRS and solenoid pack are all built in to one. Definitly change it. We get Dogde and Chrysler front will drives in every week with some kind of pressure circuit error, mostly for low/reverse. It has been the solenoid pack everytime. We have changed as many as 4 pack on one vehicle before it went away and these are new packs from dealer. The 45RFe uses the same design pack, change it and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
