5.2 vs 4.7??
Hi,
I would like to buy a durango with the small V8 and I wanted to know wich one is better; the 4.7 or the 5.2? Which one have the less problem or what are the know problem on each engin, which have the best L/100Km (MPG), have the best torque curve (I couldn't found the torque curves on the internet)?
Thanx a lot for all the infos!

Heres a post from a while back about it

I got a 4.7 in my '01 durango and has good pulling power for normal stuff (boats, trailers, etc..) I get about 14-16 to the gallon on it

i have both and love them both. the 318's (5.2l) are notorious for being bullet proof. they have a lot more aftermarket, and they sound better w/ duals. however, they have about the same amount of power, and the 318 is an older motor with some minor problems. i have a 4.7L with 181k on it now, so i guess i would recommended them booth.

I would think a 318 can easily churn out more power if you install some minor upgrades. Problaby easier to power tune as well. This motor has been around for ages and has a good rep for longevity if taken care of properly.
I would think this 318 may churn out nearly as much power as the 1st gen hemi 5.7's if they applied the latest tech on this engine as they did the 4.7.
