Default Hidden subwoofer locations?

What are some areas I can put a 10" or 12" subwoofer, WITHOUT interfering with the fold down seat functions? Maybe a shallow mount and put it in the rear cargo where the jack is kept? Just got me an aftermarket radio yesterday and now I want to go with some more oomph! Just like the good old days! It is a DVD player and also, what is a good setup for TV's for the rear seats? The head rests are not adjustable so it will have to be a permanent install or some sort of strap on...

Go strap on with the TV's. As for the Box, get something portable and slim so you can move it to the side out of the way, or take it out.

if you dont use the 3rd row i would take it out and flush mount the subs in that space, alternately you could take the top door off of the "tool area" against the gate, and leave a hole to let the spare down, then mount the subs in there, just a couple of ideas thta i have tossed around

I'm not sure how large of a sub will fit, but I've been eye-balling the third row driver side molding over the rear tire. There is a significant amount of open space behind that paneling and the wheel well (the opposite side houses the rear HVAC unit).

I'm not going for sheer power, but rather fullness of sound in my endeavor, which is why that location seems potentially desirable (in addition to being right next to a 12V power source! Anything larger would probably need an independent housing structure.

This is just something that has been on my mind since I started to re-foam the speaker surrounds to repair the factory speakers.

You could just buy one already made for that cargo area in the back:

Here's one. replaces the folddown center console on the 2nd row seats.

I remember at one time, some company made a prefab'ed rear side panel sub woofer so you won't have to use up the toolbox space in the back of the Durango. So far I cannot find it. It may have been Qlogic which they are no longer around.

Well, I bought a couple of Kicker comp 12's... I love companies that are going out of business! (Circuit City) But I got a pair for $100... If I am going to go for good sound, I might as well skip the whole "stealth" look... I found a nice setup online which gave me an idea... I am just going to do a custom setup and have a box go the entire width of the back with the 3rd row seat up... The subs will be facing down and the box covered by charcoal felt... I'll post up some pics as I go along... I figure I do everything else DIY, so why not some woodwork? My mom has all the right tools for the job...

Subs facing down... that will shorten the life of the subs, but it will sound ok. if you want to get the max potential out of the subs. I can say face them toward the back or at the tail gate. just to test this, when you build the box the way you want it try it facing down then facing toward the tail gate.you'll see the diff

Thought I would show you guys what I am doing... This is NOT my vehicle or pics... Just a reference.... Right now I only have the wood cut... I decided that sealed will be the only way to get what I want... But, here is a link to what I am going with... Looks just like this one! The guy seems to like it... I just want something that will give me bass back... After I upgraded to new aftermarket, infinity speakers, I lost all bass... They are also 5.25" when they should have been 6.75... (Thanks CarToys for giving me the wrong info!)
