2000 durango tranny help
the tranny fluid was black not red like it should be, i did not adjust the bands i dont know what or how to do that. but i think its the pump in the tranny or something cause it makes a wierd noise in n d 2 1 but not park, thats when the pump is pumping fluid. it will move when i first start it and then if i back up then put it in drive its done and wont move even if i try and put it back in reverse, if i put in neutral and sit for a minute then put it in drive it move im pretty sure if i remember correctly thanks
I'm thinking that the bands got smoked as well... Trick your dad into helping you out.
I personally am looking forward to my boys getting a little older. I plan on getting them some old beaters (cool beaters) and restoring them with them beofre they can drive then when they get to that magical 16 they have something nowone else will have but will still appreciate it.

If the fluid went black then I think your tranny is proally smoked bad=sorry for ur lose but if you replace the tranny replace the torque converter too as a preventative measure.and make sure the the new or rebuilt tranny has the linkages and all sensors workin good too.
Did they open it up and look at it? I doubt that and that's the only way to know the condition of it. I personally would pull the one you have and take it to a shop to have it rebuilt. It will cost you a little more but with the removal and install done by you it will save some money on labor.
