Autozone $23.00 shackle kits...

Autozone $23.00 shackle kits...
I was in my local Autozone today and saw a set of "lowering shackles" for the 1994-1999 Ram 1500 and other Chevy and Ford applications... I remember that the BellTech 6400's had the same applications... Now, for $23.00, you cannot go wrong, can ya? They looked to be of DECENT build and had some poly bushings in them... Yay, nay? Try em out? I forgot the brand....

Well, I bought them today to see if they would work... They should be on this week... They are Superior Auto.... Website is www.sup-auto.com. $32.08 with tax out the door... I think the hardest part is going to be removing the trailer hitch... What does it take to remove that?

You don't need to remove the hitch to install the lowering brackets for a T/S lift!

The drivers side top bolt for the shackle is about 1-2" from the hitch... The bolt is MUCH longer than that... Are there any tricks I should know? I will take some pictures later to show what I am speaking of...

The bolt goes in that way so you can't pull it out, but when ya do it, you cut em!.........
Unbolting all of it just wastes time. You shouldn't reuse the bolts anyway. Jack up the body just so the wheels touch and block it. You cut off the head or both sides and drop the spring out of the mount. Lift the truck enough to install the shackles. I would use polyurethane bushings and use new number 5 bolts and washers and reinstall. Don't forget to use silicone grease on the bolt to bushing contact area. Spray silicone grease if needed to install the bushings.

Here's the link to their sites pdf of parts available=scroll down alil bit and you will see them...I looked at them and it looks like you can trim the lower holes off and not lose alot of lift=might be a bit more stronger.
