Caliper bolt keeps breaking
I have a 99 rango and she keeps breaking her caliper bolt. I buy the cheap $4 bolt and it will last about a week, go out and get the $40 oversize bolt and it will last 2 weeks. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? I've already replaced the part that the caliper bolts up to 3 times. Any help would be great.
Thanx

Never seen this issue. I would bet you are using the wrong pads. The 02 and 03 pads were of different sizes if I remember right.
Thing is there isn't any torque on them as the pressure should go onto the control arm from the pads. Please send some pics and we will get her figured out for you.
I have some great ideas but you need to attach some pics. Get close shots of the caliper to control arm and the pad hangers. Anything else will help as well. Just get pic's from diffferent angles.

The only way a caliper bolt is getting broken is if the caliper is in a bind. Since you have been at it three times and its still broke, one can deduce that 4 out of 4 installs were done wrong.
Since this could kill you and someone else, just spend the $70 to have a brake shop pull off the calipers (give them some BS excuse) and ask for replacement bolts. If you have already went with the oversized, either those need to go back in or have them helicoil the bolts.
There is no load or significant torque on those bolts so something is way way wrong.

Different sized bolts?huh? Is there play in the caliper when you bolt it back on?----compress the caliper all the way in with the bleeder open or the cover off the master cylinder and compress the caliper all the way in and mount it=if theres any play side to side etc..replace the caliper and the mounting bolts-- do both side= for safety sake....Have the hub bearings checked for play but the truck wandering and making noises with a bad hub bearing...hope this helps...
