Default hard shifting with engine oil change

I have a 2000 dodge durango v8 that has a issue shifting after the engine oil has been changed, after about 1000 mi shifting goes back to normal. Anyone have an idea what the issue is or what direction I can go with this? thanks for any help.

Gary

Did you change out the motor oil or did you have a shop do it. If a shop did it they probablly installed the wrong trans fluid if you were low.

I'm thinking that when you change out the lubricant out of the motor the engine will run smoother. If everything is smoother I think you would notice it more.

Are we talking about 4.7L, 5.2L or the 5.9L? V8

I think were getting off track. I think it has something to do with vacuume on the engine. The engine it's self runs great, i change the oil every 3500 miles. The milage right now is 121099. Right now the trans shifts fine, no issues. tomorrow I change the engine oil (only) hop in and go for a ride, the trans will not shift into OD at least not for awhile. before I take the SUV out for its test drive the oil and trans oil is checked and up to operating temp. All Good. Now after about 1000mi, I get up and go to the Veh ad fire it up till it hits operating temp. go for a ride and it shifts into OD when it is supposed to. note it's been like this for 2yrs

When you change the oil,are you by any chance disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery---I know peeps that do that as a safety precaution-then they have wait for the computer to reset it's drive behavior..ie shifts etc
