Output Shaft Speed Sensor Question..

Output Shaft Speed Sensor Question..
So my 2000 Dodge Durango is shifting hard and can't get above 3rd I believe. I took it into the dealership and they noted a bad cv boot and replaced it and told me it was a "bad output sensor". I said I'll handle that one and assumed output shaft speed sensor. They didn't give me the code or any other info(ya, real nice huh?). So I ordered this sensor from Baxters (part # sc226). I located the sensor that matched (passenger side of the transmission I believe). Got it out and saw they didn't match, one is a 2 pin connector and the existing sensor is a 3 pin. Just making sure I in fact got the wrong part and didn't pull the wrong sensor. Thanks
PS the retaining screw hole broke up while I was struggling to get it out.

i'm not an expert on durango's, but on the ram, there is a round vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the output shaft of the transmission, and an ABS sensor in the top of the rear differential that looks similar to your new one in the first pic. try rockauto.com and here for an application guide w/pics.

just by the way... you took your car to the dealer because it was shifting hard and they replaced what was probably an expensive CV boot but not a $25 sensor. wtf did that have to do with shifting. find another mechanic...

Sorry I did not read the full post the first time.... Yes if it is on the rear of the transmission(output shaft) then it is the speed sensor... They did change them but do not remember the exact year... Mine has this one here

So just take it to autozone and have them match it up
