PCM should be different because of timing and stroke....... Bolt in should be fine but the PMC.....I don't think so!

Find a new dealer.

You can go from a 318 to a 360 with the same PCM, sensors and trans. Going the other way...Name: icon_confused.gif

The PCM, transmission, sensor expectations, etc are all different. Significantly different? No. Different? Yes.

That's a waste of time and energy ESPECIALLY if you are going back to the 360 later.

Sorry.

Timing can be set through the distributer, PCM can be adjusted through the dealer for $126 if needed.

My worry now is with the pulse rate of the injectors. I have been told both engines use the same injectors, harness but there could be a difference in the pulse rate. My advantage is that every sensor will be from the 318 as it is 100% complete.

I plan to make the transisition next weekend, if it's more involved I will just sell my 318 and rebuild the 360 at a faster pace. If it can be done 318>360 then it can also be done 360>318.

Timing cannot be set through the distributor...... PCM controled!

PCM can be adjusted by the dealer and they use the same injectors and dampeners.

Now you can do a fuel saving tune in on the distributor and to do this one can have the distributor on spark #1 at TDC manually but to get the BEST tune then a DRB needs to monitor it.

If it makes a difference, I have a hypertech programmer and it can be used for both the 5.9L and 5.2L engines. I would call hypertech tech support and ask them about the injector questions. They may be able to shed some light on this.

Default Regular or Premium Gas ?

Hey guys. I have a 2002 5.9 R/T. I was wondering what grade gasoline I should be using. The owner's manual says regular, but when Car and Driver tested it, they said the R/T requires premium fuel. What do you guys put in the 5.9?

The only R/T requiring Premo is the 2000 year.

Your 2002 is 87 octane. Always beleive your owners manual and if 91 octane is required the law staits it must be labeled.
