What are you geting for gas mileage?

Today, I just refilled my tank. With just a tad less than 1/4 tank, I drove 218 miles and burned 18 gal. Do the math and it comes to 11.98 mpg. This is roughly where my usual MPG with mix residential and stop and go highway traffic in DFW. So the new map sensor did not give me much if any improvement.
I guess if I don't use the A/C and cook myself in the cabin, I can problably squeeze another mpg! haha
I hope the O2 sensor will make up the difference I am looking for in MPG's!
Otherwise, I won't be able to really know the true highway mpg until I start my trip from DFW to Denver.
But I gotta say, the new map sensor sure as well restored my lost power. With new map sensor, just touching the pedal wants to launch my D off the starting line.

The uppers are a bit of a PITA. It should be at the bottom because the 5.9L only have 1 upper and 1 lower so there should be one after the Y and before the CAT on the front and the rear should be right after the CAT.

I believe in my IR plugs. It's still a Champion plug! Just not copper nor plats! My 5.9 still idle so smooth, you can probably balance an egg on it and it won't tip over! My 5.9 responds so much better with IR vs copper champion plugs.
Right now, I am driving it as if I had an egg behind the pedal to see what my mpg would be with the new map sensor. So far, only a small improvement for me. I guess that tells me my 5.9 is already in perfect running condition?
Now to change the front O2 sensor and I am done with sensors for a while. Is it a PITA to change the O2 sensors? Anyone done it before? what it requires to get access to it? etc? pics? Wanna save me some labor costs if I can do it myself!

I just used an open ended wrench to remove the O2s. Works just fine. The upper isn't too bad. It'll probably take you all of 10 min. The hardest part for me was undoing the conector.

Once under the lifted Durango, we just got up in there with a wrench and after a turn of the tool, the rest of the sensor came out by hand. It was the wiring bail I had to have my son's smaller hands get in there to undo. LOL
I bought the special slotted O2 sensor socket and never used it. It was easier without it.

For those using the HyperTech Programmer III; I burn 87 octane but set the programmer to 93 octane. This fools the PCM into thinking it's using a higher octane and tells it to advance the timing. It gives the 5.9 a noticeable increase in power and torque. It's an improvement you can even hear. As long as it doesn't knock you are OK. Mine doesn't and never did. I also reset the tire size to 31" to accomodate the Generals, raised my rpm to 5200 and left the top speed alone. Overall it's the perfect setting. I really notice the programing benefit when I pull the trailer up a hill going through the mountains.
