I have an '01 Durango R/T and all the sudden the buttons on my steering wheel just stopped working. The cruise control, radio buttons, and most importantly the horn. I've checked the fuses and they all seem to be good. Also my airbag light came on around the same time. I was wondering if this might be related? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
i would suggest taking it to a dealer, but my best guess would be the clock spring, but to get to that you have to remove the airbag (hence my recomendation that you go to the dealer and get it done)
This is probably a stupid question but what is a CTM? Also do you know about how much this would cost to get fixed?
It's not a stupid question if you don't know the answer.
CTM is the (Central Timing Module) located behind the drivers side kick panel (panel between the door and the dash by the floor to keeps you from kicking it and making the interior flow design. If the CTM is out the dealer has to replace it and flash your CTM with your vehical info. Also when taking it to the dealer make sure you take both key fob's just in case they do have to replace the CTM they can reprogram both key fob's. Cost is about $450 for this replacement.
Like the users are saying, it sounds more like the clock spring though which is in the steering wheel. Take it to the dealer.
so i took it to the dealership and they told me $300 which was a nice surprise, i decided to take it to my regular mechanic and he said he could get it done for $150. thanks for all the advice on this problem. you guys were a big help.
