Default Anyone Try Pure Acetone!?

Well, I was looking stuff up on youtube and this guy was saying that you could double you gas millage, with a 1/4 tank acetone every fill up.

Now I am not a sucker, but I did some research and I guess this stuff is also in injector cleaner. If anyone uses that, which I do. Some people where saying that it was corrosive.

But I was just wondering.

Here is the video on you tube:

It eats plastic and rubber seals... would not suggest using it. just do a google search on this topic and its disadvantage. stuff has been around for a long time and there is a reason why it is not being used before now. Todays engines have so many plastic and rubber busings/seals ext.. that will be eaten away over time shortening the life of the engine.

BS BS BS

There is no way he increased his fuel mileage by 10 mpg with just 2 oz of acetone in 10 gallons of gas. 42% better? I don't think so.

I have tried acetone and my car did run better. It's basically an octane booster and has an octane of like 114.

But, it was on youtube so it must be correct right?

P.S. Why was his neon only getting 17 mpg to start with?

Cyclone429, you can huff paint thinner easier than waiting for it to dry for insufflation. I would also try Slick 50, Prolong, and a thousand other "give your money to me" products. All jokes aside, drive with a light foot and you will save gas and money,

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

Gotta get up to type........ On the Floor again........ROTFLMAO!

I don't know whats funnyer, lookin at the responses or watching the video???????

Seriousely, this guy knows nothing about vehicles and is a complete ignorant idiot. Don't believe one thing this video says. While acitone can make a cleaner burn so can higher octane and it's use is not recommended for everyday use.

1/4 tank per fill up? 5 gallons?! You will certainly blown up ad die. Acetone isn't to play with. 8-15 ozs per fillup, done. You need to recalibrate the amount to use every fillup because the gas you get isn't consistent. Since this is reactive instead of proactive, doesn't work unless you get the amount right via a lucky guess. 8ozs may be perfect once, then make things worse. Then it may be 15ozs to get good results then next time it too is off the mark. In the end, cleans up the system and may benefit but its pot luck.

Ever price a gallon of 100% acetone? Gas is WAY cheaper BTW.

Way back when I was looking for it, the cheapest I could find it was like $14 per gallon.

WOW, lol did not expect this many replies. But what all of you are saying is what I was thinking. Did not know it ate rubber stuff though. I wasn't about to use it or anything just wanted to make a thread so if another person was interested in it, They would not end up using it. And also just to get a good laugh!
