Default Body Code plate location?

Hi everyone- I have been around for awhile here- just too shy to post.. lol. I have been out of the dealership now for about 7 years now since I changed careers. Experience told me that the body code tag/plate is always on the upper radiator support crossmember on Mopar vehicles, but for the life of me, I cannot find that plate on my 99 Durango..

Does anyone know where this plate with the sales codes is located at?
I am trying to determine what tranny and rear axle ratio my D has.... I am getting mixed information looking through the forums.

99 Durango 5.2l/ 242 NVG/ Tow package/Auto 4x4

I get tons of great info from this forum- kudos to everyone here!

Dave

You have a 44RE transmission
You can tell what gears you have by a little metal tag on the differential cover bolt. Sometimes you also can find this information in the glove box tag.
Always can have a dealer run a build sheet or visit this web site and fill in the information requesting a build sheet, web site method takes 3-7 day....

Thanks for the reply-

I am getting conflicting info--
Trans was replaced about 4 years ago-- receipt states 46RE-
Build sheet tells me nothing - it actually says 4RE transmission...
Some places I hear the tow package has the 46RE.

I confirmed that the rear axle is 3.55 by the tag. I cannot get under the truck to see the transmission tag due to the running boards- will have to lift it in the air for that.

By the way- the build sheet request on the web- I submitted that yesterday afternoon- I had a reply by 6 am!! Although it was not a complete list with sales codes to my disappointment.

okay well it is possible the place that replaced your transmission used a 46RE. However from the factory 5.2L came with a 44RE and a 5.9L came with a 46RE. The 5.9L and 5.2L share the same engine block so the 46RE bolts right up. The 4 in the 46 stands for the number of gears where the 6 is the internal strength.
factory
5.2L 44RE
5.9L 46RE

Schuster, thanks for the site. It looks like I have:
All 4-Speed Automatic Transmissions
Multi-Speed Auto 45RFE Transmission
Lock-Up Torque Converter
Elec,Shift-on-the-Fly,P/Time T/Case
205MM Front Axle
3.55 Axle Ratio
Corporate 9.25 LD Rear Axle
What kind of hitch do you recommend? And do I have to lose the spare?

OEM hitch is the best and you can find old ones on ebay for a good price. Just watch and one will fall into ebay. No you do not need to loose the spare.

Thanks hydra! Now is it hard to install? Scale of 1-10 1 being easiest.
