Default Blinking D

I have searched all over and yet to find an answer.
2001 Durango r/t 5.9 4x4
the D indicator on the steering colum, the circle that goes around the d blinks when im on the highway for some reason. everything seem ok though

Does the truck actually shift into overdrive on the highway when at cruise? You could be stuck in 3rd instread of shifting into overdrive. Just a guess

yes it shifts into overdrive, and runs through all the gears just fine.

Go to autozone to pull codes (usually free) as your transmission may have a bad sensor or worse as this link suggests:

Ok let me clear this up. the circle around the D blinks when I accellerate over like 65mph and races from P N R D 1 2, I checked the fluid and it all where it should be. I have never owned a dodge before so im not sure what it could be. and what i found on the net is not really helpful. Thank you any info would be appreciated thanks

are you sure that you have the gearshift selector locked into the D position? it should click and settle in if you push the lever towards the dash did you try doing a fluid/filter change? that might help, the other possibility could be a bad connection for the selector light

yes its locked in drive. what i recently noticed is that it only does it when it hot outside

Could be a Transmission Control Module going out. It is located by the passenger side head light under the hood. I think you should be good to go to a bone yard to pick one up.
