Have you removed the valve cover to inspect for the problem? Mine was knocking to, and all it was was a rocker arm had popped off from a bad lifter.

It would be nice to be able to interchange the old 4.7 for the new current 4.7 that generates 300+ HP.

Yes, I had a knowck too and didn't pull the valve cover. Turns out when I did a rocker arm was also off. Might have been the cause of the knock. I got lucky though and foudn a great deal on a new motor so I am not too upset over it.

If i order a long block for my durango but i order the jeep 02 with HO what are the modifications will I have to make? and is it more expense than its worth although i think the HO has about 40 more horses. do you know how much a tone ring is and the best way to get one\\thanks

You, on the other hand, are using a 16 tooth tone ring. Easiest way to tell if you are JTEC or NGC is to look at the computer, if it has 3 plugs on it you are JTEC, if it has 4 you are NGC.

HOWEVER, you can swap tone rings. It is a little bit of a PITA but it is possible. I am taking an '03 Durango motor and putting it into my '01 Dakota Quad Cab right now.
