Default Trans relearn and sludge

My trans is shifting kinda funny. Do I just disconnect the batteries to relearn? Are there any other ways? I recently did a fluid change and the level is correct.

I have sludge in my eng and Im going to change it to Mobil 1 10W-30 HM. How else should I approach this? Fluids and such.

Im also thinking of putting "Restore" in the eng because of the lack of maintenance.

Thanks guys

yes, disconnecting the battery, and holding the key to start for 30sec to a minute will drain the system and reset ALL the computers, now if you have sludge in your engine I WANT PICTURES sludging in these engines is EXTREMELY RARE, and whoever diagnosed is probably wrong, unless they opened the engine up and found it.

now about the "restore", dont waste your money, just use a high quality engine oil and change it at or before the recomended interval

Did you change out the TWO filters when you did the tranny fluid change? Did you use Mopar ATF+4? The D takes about 7 quarts of the stuff. Don't let anyone sell you on adjusting the bands. Our 4.7s have NO bands. It's all electronic.
+1 on the restore, tried it, no improvement, go with the mobil 1 full synthetic, worked great for me. Yeah, no sludge, VERY rare for our engines. HTH.

Look at in instruction at the top of this page: Engine Code Index (Check Engine Light?)

As for the oil, use the Fully Synthetic HM (I think you know).

I know sludge first hand, I was fighting with it clogging up my pick up screen. I got some of that 5min engine flush and ran the D for 5-7 min like said at just idle no revving. Then just drained the oil as soon as I shut it off. So far so good for me, just gotta change the oil alot, or I did.

The only reason for SLUDGE is lack of maintenance as with any other engine!

yea engine sludge is odd. i bought seafoam the other day and put it in my gas tank to "clean my injectors and fuel lines" i think it worked the car seems to move more smoothly?

oh and btw would i be able to switch to synthetic with 87k miles? or does switching to synthetic increase the chances of oil leaks etc?
