Question Help Please

Hi everybody...
I own a 1998 dodge durango v8.
I am having a problem,which I would like to have some advice before taking it to the mechanic.
Every time after a full stop, the rpms go up to 4, speedometer stays at 20km, car not going faster, suddenly speedometer passed 40km, rpms back to 2 then car acelerates normal. After this routine I have no problems at all.

I need to fix this issue, I live in Canada, winter is around the corner and I am very concerned about the car behaving like this on snow/icy conditions or cars behind me.

This issue is happening everytime on a red light or full stop.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Clean the Throttle Body including the IAC or replace the IAC.

It might also be the the TPS.

HS, he has a '98 so it isn't a 4.7l

Kykyto, I agree with HS on the TPS. I would first have that easy/cheap item replaced and see if it solves everything.

Once you have that done, if it still happens, check back in for step two. More costly and difficult so let's check off the easy ones first. And since you have a '98, it is due for a new TPS anyways.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
