Default A/C Cutting out when I floor it

First the A/C works great and get really cold quick. But I did notice a couple of weeks ago that when I started going from a stop and with a heavy foot the A/C stopped blowing. I noticed it once again a week later. So what could this be. 2000 with a 5.9

Thanks,
Joe

I'm lost since at this time of year there is nowone using a/c only heat but if for some reason you are in the southern hemisphere then the reason you are not blowing cold air when you are flooring it is because the a/c compressor is set to cut out when you are at WOT. This is to allow as much power to the wheels as possible. A/c takes a lot of power to run and would be pretty annoying and dangerous if you needed to all of the power your rig could produce.

+2 MEAN the A/C is supposed to cut out at full throttle, once you return back to normal throttle the compressor will kick back on. Sounds to me like it is working as advertised. The same concept is for aircraft. They turn the air conditioning off for take off to allow as much as bleed air to the engines as possible. It is usually only for about 2-5 minutes you may not even notice it. When the aircraft is about 500-1000 feet off the ground and a climb is set the pilots turn it back on. Same concept for the car A/C but on a much smaller scale.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check your hoses especially the one coming from the front of the TB to the hard black vacuum line. They like to crack there.

But yes, at WOT the vacuum should drop off but be picked up by the vacuum reservoir unless there is a leak.

Hydra I'm pretty sure he's talking about the a/c not staying cold at WOT.

I would think it would be the blower cutting off.. If the compressor shut off for a few seconds you wouldnt notice a thing because the system would still be compressed and the evap would still be cold.. you could probably shut the ac off for a minute or two and it would still push cold air..

It all depends on mr leadfoots driving and how long he sits at WOT.
