yes the atf +4 is the tranny fluid, but it is ALSO chrysler spec for power steering fluid (i have NO clue why, but thats what my manual calls for, and i would not mix it with anything else)

They are the same but Chrysler sells it as Power Steering Fluid for a little more. They both meet specifications but if you are like me, I just use the correct fluid but even the dealers sell ATF+4 for Power Steering Fluid.

Correct for PS fluid ONLY on 2001+ Durangos. The crossover year was 2000 so some '00s are and some are NOT , solely based on build date. No 98/99s are supposed to be ATF+4 PS Fluid compatible. Only way anyone on a 98/99 should use it as PS fluid is on a pump AND full hose replacement swap.

Angry 2005 slt dodge dakota V8

I just replaced the upper control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links on front passenger and driver side. And the person helping me didn't do his part and left the entire side half unbolted, and now my rack and pinion is leaking out of both boots on the inner tie rods. Has anyone re-manufactured their own? If so how hard is it to be done? I seen auto-zone has the kits for like $50 or some ****. And then to top it off I took it to be aligned, and they found crank seal leak, rear main seal leak, oil pan rusted, trans cooler lines leak, p/s leak, and possible t-stat housing leak. I just bought the truck off of someone about 8 months ago and I am already too deep in the hole to just sell it. Any suggestions on the rack and pinion re-do?

Given the importance of the rack and pinion unit....... I would just replace it with a rebuilt unit. A mistake there, could be extremely costly.
