gauge cluster

the plastic cover is independent from the gauge cluster its self. The cover is simply that... just a cover.. If i remember right the whole cluster is held on by 4-6 screws. You can get to this by simply pulling hard on your dash board trim. (its held in my clips) You will then see the screws holding the cluster in place.. pull the screws and you'll have the whole cluster out, quite simple.. you take the cluster you got from the junkyard and pull the cover off it... it should be held on by plastic clips surrounding cluster.. then simply put the "new" cover on your factory cluster.. reassemble and your good to go..

a plastic lens cover from the junkyard is also likely to be scratched.
i'd visit the dealer's parts counter and have them look up the lens cover only. i'd bet money its a replaceable part. even if it costs $20, its still cheaper than buying an entire cluster, and it won't be all scratched up.

went to the junk yard today and they are dicks, well the cluster was junk and scrached to **** with 175,000 miles on it way more than my truck has, but the worst part is one guy says i can just have it. so i say **** it i will try to clean the plastic up some its free, as soon as i go to put it in my truck another guys runs out and takes it from me and says im stealing, i tried to tell him what happened but then say **** it and leave.

Well first let me say that I'm sure some of your issues with the junk yard were probably because of your own attitude. You have the same attitude here so maybe if you sit down and think about it you might find that you need to settle down and do a lil growing up.
You forget all the crap you started in here, then you come back here for help to your questions, well first I'm surprised that the users here even want to help you.
Anyway, to answer your question, why can't you take out the parts that you need and swap them with one of the other clusters? If you pull on the face plate it will come off and allow access to the electrical components.

I tried but i think there is other intentions than just a broken cover. Seeing how i doubt he would ever take the steps needed to to correct the odom, im not going to give him advice on replacing a working cluster just for a cracked cover and potentially commiting odometer fraud.
