Front end noise
I pulled into parking space, turned the wheels to the left and came to a complete stop. When I put the gear in park and let of the brake I heard a loud pop coming from the passenger's side. The noise was so loud, people walking by looked down at the front of my truck. I got out and looked around and didn't notice anything wrong. When I got home, I put the truck in the air, checked everything that could have possibility cause that sound and couldn't find anything wrong or duplicate the sound. This occurred a week ago, the truck drives ok and the sound hasn't happened again. Any ideas on what this could have been, the front end is tight and no leaking grease from the CV axle.
It has only done it once and it sounded like it came from the right front wheel. The sway bar bushings are poly and part of the Hotchkis sway bar kit I installed. I'll check the control arm bushings and the upper ***** joints which are moog. I replaced the upper and lower ball joints in April of 2004. I replaced the lowers in May of 2008, due to torn boots and since the uppers take a lot of stress on turns they may be the culprit. I'll post the results when I get a chance to look into problem.
Update: When I drive straight there's no noise. When I turn left around a curve I hear humming noise only while applying pressure to the gas peddle. When I let off the gas while in the curve the noise goes away. The sound is coming from the right side and I changed the bearing so I know it's not that. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I had a similar problem with my last car (not a durango) and I think it ended up being a ball joint, and maybe the ball joint housing as well. Like you said you just pull into a spot and straighten out the wheel then you take the foot off the break and a loud *** POP that would make ppl look at you like wtf?
But yea I think that's what it was in my last car... a ball joint and also the casing that it goes in (whatever that's called) was gone. There was some other symptoms too, like the popping when you turn the wheel really tight and going over a bump you might hear a clunk. Just a possibility.

Thats what's going only with my rig right now but I can't get any movement out of the BJ's? I did find a tie rod end that's gone so I'm replacing both. I'll find out soon after the snow settles and it warms up.
Humming sounds like a bad wheel bearing. It also could be a CV joint or output bearing on the differential on that side.

I plan on changing the Diff output bearings, is this the right kit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=270399580859 I've changes bearings on cars with spindles, but never differential bearings. I have the Fsm and the replacement seems straight forward. Are there any special things I need to to do or lookout for?
