New Member & Trans troubles
Hello all.
I am new to the forum but have been a guest soaking up all of the helpfull knowledge on the site.
I have a 1998 Durango 5.2l 4x4 with 149,000 that was given to me from my parents. They bought this vehicle new and has had maintanence maintained. I just had to replace the transfer case (NV231) due to broken chain which led to a busted case. But the current problem is that the truck wouldnt shift from 2-3 real well (reached high rpms or had to let off of throttle). I was going to adjust the forward band if this is the correct thing to do, but I am not real sure which trans I have 42/44/46re as to know how many turns to back off.
Any thoughts

OK so after a little deeper investigation I have the 44re. So I did the band adjusment to 72in/lbs and backed off 2 1/4 turns. But now my problem is that i dont have 1st. The truck will just sit there when it is shifted into 1.
Any thoughts?

Guess no one has had this sort of problem?
When i put it in 1st the engine will rev up to 2000 rpm and wont move. When it is in drive it will start out in 2nd and shift good the rest of the way.

It looks like you did it right. It could be to tight causing the issue. Talk to master tech as he might know what to do?
