02 Durango lleft and right brake lights inop

Default 02 Durango lleft and right brake lights inop

my center brake lights work but not my left and right brake lights....i changed the bulbs and still nothing.....any help

did you get the right bulbs???? there should be two filaments in each bulb

i'm having the same problem.Driving around with headlights on so that the rears have some light.I replaced the brake light switch that didn\t help.

did you check ALL of the fuses, they are probably fine, but its a very easy thing to check, and cheap too

If I am not mistaken, the bulbs plug into a socket that has built in contacts. The socket is then pushed and turned into the housing. You will have to clean up both contacts, the socket and housing parts, and then bend up the contacts in the socket a bit. That should help you, I know it did for me.

Correct Pete. Those contacts can be difficult to make sure the connections are in place correctly. Twist to much... nada. Not enough... nada.

Did all that and still no brakelights any other suggestions?

Could be the combination flasher.

To rule out any problems with your housing contacts or socket contacts, you will need a test light or volt meter. You can unplug the wiring going into the housing and have someone step on the brakes. If you have voltage, it should show or the test light will light up. Another place to check if you have a tow hitch on the back is the plug-ins under the vehicle.
