One more question about these cylinder heads..as I continue my search, what model years are available for me to? Am I only able to get a 99 head, do I have the flexibility to get up to a 2003 head as well, since our vehicles are similar up to that model year. Were there any changes to the engine that would make a later year 5.9L head incompatible?

Thanks hydra, I will give them a call first thing next week. I need to get those on their way as soon as possible so I can drive this beast! I have seen a few posts about aftermarket cast iron heads, besides the aluminum, but I can't seem to find anything when I search the net. Does anybody have a vendor name or something that I might be able to contact to get a price?

Does anyone have any experience with "Iron Ram Magnum" head? Apparently it is built heavy duty and is supposed to flow better than OEM and won't require a whole lotta additional work, according to the guy I spoke with on the phone from Clearwater. It is one of the few places I found that will supply a new cast "bare" head.

Hydra, I am consistently amazed at your extreme wealth of knowledge. I hope to someday meet you and thank you in person for your many, many important exchanges of information. I have my engine builder ordering a set of these aftermarket bare heads as we speak, so I am super excited. The heads mentioned above were $285 each, with $25 shipping, which was ALOT better than the $632.50 each plus shipping Edelbrock's from Summit (yes, I know, they are Edelbrock's, but still...less than half the price for similar performance, to me was a no-brainer). I didn't order them directly from the guys in Clearwater, but my engine builder said they were the same, just from a different supplier, and only cost me $500.00 for the pair. I can't wait to get this engine back together. I'll keep you updated!
