David, can you expand on this a little bit? I know a little bit about cars but nothing about trannys. I am having the exact same problem as you described. Shifts from 1st to 2nd fine no matter what the weather is. If it's cold out, or the truck is just cold, it takes usually 10-15 minutes of driving before it starts to shift into 3rd. When it's not working, it will shift into 2nd, then when it's time to shift into 3rd, it just "let's go". I can let the rpm's settle down and then gun it to get it to go back down to 2nd, but then it's wash, rinse, repeat until it's "warmed up". Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Won't Shift Solution

Having your transmission serviced and the bands adjusted is a good start...but the reason why my D stopped shifting up in the morning was that the kick down spring had broken.

This spring is located in one corner of the transmission "brain" that is covered by the transmission fluid pan underneath the vehicle - its mounted vertically and held in place by a lever.

If that's broken the the D won't kick down until its warm - and then suddenly the transmission starts to work properly again
