Default Trans problem

Hey i have a 99 durango with the 5.2 in it 4x4.my tranny is haveing a problem shifting out of second gear ive already flushed it out and replaced the filter anybody else have some ideas that can solve this

Do you mean you can upshift thru 1st and 2nd normal and the into 3rd at 50mph? Or is the transmission stuck in 2nd and that is it?

i mean that it wont shift out of second gear,like it will get up to about 3500 rpms then finally shift

he is asking if it shifts from 1-2 on its own ok, or back down from 2-1 on its own, we got that it wont shift into 3 properly

o im sorry i got you now lol.yeah it shifts fine from 1st to 2nd and back down from 2-1 with no problem.just going into 3rd from 2nd is the problem sorry for me getting confused

Okay. Here is the problem. Transmission fluid don't like heat, the hotter the fluid gets it start to harden the pistion seals. There two drums the front of the trans, on the front drum the fluid is leaking pass the seal and hold fluid to make the next shift. You can try adding some seal softner to the trans and hope it works, or you'll need to replace all seals and clutches. Meaning a overhaul.

okay well my t.v. cable that runs from the tranny to the throttle was missing the retainer clip we replaced the clip and now its not slipping anybody now what the shift points are suppose to be

1st to 2nd 15mph to 22mph, from 2nd to 3rd 22mph to 28mph from 3rd to 4th 28mph to 40mph.

sorry to budge in real quick question. when changing transfer case fluid could i just use regular atf +4 trans fluid?

and how many filters does the 45rfe trans have?
