Grinding Brakes?

Hey guys... a problem I've had over the past couple days. When I come to a total stop and have to put more force in the brake pedal I get a grind in the front breaks and I'm not sure if this could be attributed to all the dirt and salt they've been throwing on the ground around here or not.
I figured i'd wait it out a couple days and hope it subsides but is there any way of knowing beyond that? No squeeking just some grinding like it's got dirt in there but not sure if thats the pads gone (they feel ok other than that).

TM, I wouldn't put off inspecting the brakes. They are what stops you. The salt and dirt should have been pushed out by the pads long ago. Grinding sounds like you've worn your pads down to the metal. I know when I replaced my brakes, they were wearing grooves into the rotors. Just get them inspected, please. JMHO.
