Default please help

i have a 98 durango with the 5.2 and for some reason it wants to ride 1st gear until i make it shift by letting out of the throttle and then getting back into it please help my wife and 3 kids are in this everyday and i need to get it fixed PLEASE HELP

if you are on the throttle hard that is normal if you you are accelerating lightly then you should drop the pan and do a fluid/filter change and adjust the bands

Also ck the kick down cable( throttle pressure). and ck the fluid level too.

i checked the tranny fluid and the guy who owned it before me must have dumped 5 qts when it was full. with adjusting the bands what am i looking to do? i have some mechanical knowledge but i have never done an automatic transmission. thank you again for your help. much appreciated

now after changing the filter it doesn't wanna shift out of first at all. when i pulled the pan down there was no metal chunks fluid was dirty but no chunks.when you manually put in 2 or low it wants to stall. it doesn't have a code yet someone told me to replace govenor solenoid. any chance that could be it? if not, any ideas?

i thinking of changing the tranny because i cant figure it out. i was wondering if a tranny from a 96 ram with same motor would work? please let me know

i also checked and adjusted kick down cable
new thing now i tried driving it today and if i shift it into neutral at the time its supposed to shift out of first, then back into drive it sometimes catches second and will go.other times it wont. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME. i love my durango and i need it to be driving good.

i went today to try to adjust kickdown band and the adjusting screw has no torx head on it . i am pretty sure its the right one but every adjustment thread says it has a torx head. any seen one that doesn't?
