Sludge being farse, i'll bet you own a 4.7L.
Its nothing to stress about, but for your comfort

ACCUMULATION OF FOAMY OIL EMULSION 4.7L ENGINE OIL FILL HOUSING

Date: 09/11/00 (02/00) -- Bulletin # 090100A (supercedes 090100)

Model year(s): 1999-2000

Description:A customer may complain of an oil emulsion accumulation inside the engine oil fill housing. The oil emulsion will normally be foamy and be gray or light brown in color. The emulsion accumulation will often occur on cooler engine surfaces, like the inside of the oil fill housing. Modern engine oils are designed to address the oil emulsion phenomenon. Oil emulsion accumulation is normal and will not damage the engine A new baffle and a revised oil fill housing cap have been released. The baffle and oil cap will help to reduce the amount of oil emulsion accumulation within the oil fill housing.

Details: If the customer has experienced this issue, then perform the Repair Procedure.

Parts required:
53032126AA Baffle, Oil Fill Housing
53032389AC Cap, Oil Fill Housing

+1 D408 (of course)

esdaddy, don't confuse emulsion (commonly referred to as 'snot' in your lil'4.7l) with sludge. There is a B-I-G difference. Your issue is treatable... REAL sludge is not. Fortunately, you do NOT have sludge based on your description. See post above for the correct assessment and solution.

Now there's no need to get ignorant. We are simply stating there is a difference in these words.

What you are describing is a emulsification only located in the oil filler tube with the (4.7L only) that had a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) Bulletin # 090100A that you can search or Google to see what to do to fix it. Excuse our ignorance in this word but we hear it over and over but and have tried for years to get it vanquished.

Hey I was looking down the oil fill tube and......aaaaaaachoooooooo.........dammit.....SNOT !! I mean emulsified oil lingers in there. On the serious side, will changing the PCV Valve help to subside this?
