I don't think the plugs are the problem 'cause it had the champion plugs when the cell went on. The Dodge dealership cleared the code and after 48 miles the cell went on again. Changed the plugs into the platinum ones and cleared the code. It went back on after 5 miles.

get rid of the platinum plugs, they are a good part of the problem, dodge engines do not like platinum plugs, take em back and get cheapo champion copper core plugs

OK, I replaced the spark plugs(Champion)wires, cap and rotor (look pretty bad) bought from the dealer. Now, I think I messed up on where the spark plug wires go on the cap. Can anyone please tell me the order of wires starting from #1 going clockwise in the Distributor cap?.I have a Haynes manual but no help. Also please confirm that on the left side of the engine(driver side) starting from the front spark plugs are numbered 1,3,5,7 and the right side starting from the front would be 2,4,6,8?. Appreciate all the help.
Thanks

dislander is correct on the firing order being cast on the manifold, and the driver side is 1357 and passenger side is 2468 so you are correct with your numbers

I replaced all the spark plugs using Champion as stated in the hood sticker, wires, cap and rotor using dealership parts. I reset it by taking the negative off on the battery, putting the key to start and holding it for 15 sec.,then putting the neg. back, start the truck without pressing on gas for 15 sec., turning it off, and starting again to drive it. The code didn't show up until I drove 100 miles, parking it and then when I was going out after 2 hours parked, the CEL went on again. One thing I noticed before the CEL went on is that the truck vibrate a little and the idle seems to be surging up and down a little and then the light came on. Please share any ideas on what's going on. Thanks
