Help! 2001 stalls when stopping!
Hi, I really need some assistance...I have a 2001 Durango and it is the primary transportation for me and my dd. Two years ago it started stalling when I came to a stop...it surges forward and then everything shuts off. It immediately cranks back up every time.
It would occur once every couple of weeks then more frequently..it seemed to occur during warm weather. The dealership kept it for a week and replaced mutiple sensors etc but it continued to happen. I took it to a local mechanic who reset the PCM and I had no trouble after that...until now.
The same exact thing is happening. The mechanic I took it to is no longer in business. When I take it into the shop should I ask them to replace or reset the PCM. Should I buy one off of ebay? I need to get it fixed with spending the least amount of $$. Does the pcm sound like it is the problem?
Thank you in advance...I am so worried about driving it with my child in the car...I have to get this resolved asap!

do you have a check engine light. if so, you need to pull the code and see what its telling you.
if no codes, for an idle related problem, i'd replace IAC first and if that doesn't fix it then try TPS. each is about $40-50 at any parts store.
i doubt that you need a pcm replaced, but be aware that a pcm replacement at the dealership will cost close to $1000 for the $200 part.

i have a 2002 durango, it been doing the EXACT same thing for the last 8 months!!! i just posted a thread myself than i found this... i replaced both the TPS and IACV and still nothing. the IACV helped for the first day, than it continued to stall.... whenever driving it runs awesome, but coming to a stop, it stalls!!! idk whats going on, this is the only problem i have EVER had with my durango.
can this be something as simple as cleaning the throttle body? or do i need to get a complete fuel system cleaning or what? i too need to resolve this issue. there is no CEL and NO shops no what to do... im wasting money...

in the back of the throttle body, in the well that the IAC fits into, there is a small hole for the idle air to pass through. make sure this hole is clear and not all gunked up. you can poke a wire through it.
