Default play in steering...

Ok I just had an alignment done hoping it would fix the play in my steering but it didn't. Ball joints and tie rods are brand new. What needs to be replaced or tuned to eliminate this problem.

If you have a rack'n'pinion, a new rack 'n 'pinion. If you have steering gear box, there is no adjustment.

You have a steering box and it is adjustable. Firestone did mine for $30 and it's in the Service Manual.

Ok well I guess I figured it out today. Looks like I'm going to need a new steering gear box. **** its expensive too . Mines leaking and its pretty rusty. I don't even want to attempt to adjust it by heating up the rusty bolt.

Nobody has a extra steering gear box lying around that they want to sell do they lol.

check with nappa. I have gotten several different steering boxes through them for under 300. though I have not had to do any in a couple years & inflation has been kicking prices up like mad.

I think Auto Zone is like $200 or try a bone yard.
