Default What engine will fit?

I have an 02 D with the 4.7L engine. I am thinking of putting a bigger power plant in and I was wondering what is available that will bolt right in.

Nothing will directly fit unless it is another 4.7 engine. Do a search on that and you will see for yourself.

if you want to only replace the engine then a 4.7 must be used to replace a 4.7

if you dont mind doing a transmission/t-case/engine swap you could go with a 5.9 or even a 5.7 if you are brave enough

Better off staying with the 4.7L

Errr.

The same trans is in the 5.7L HEMI as the 4.7l. You can do a HEMI swap with wiring, PCM and mounts if so inclined.

With that said, sell it and buy a 5.9L instead if wanting a Gen1 or a 5.7L in a Gen2.

If it is doable, I would not mind swapping out the old 4.7l for the modern 4.7l that can put out over 300hp.
