Default Need some help on my durango oil/pinging problems

Im new here and been having troubles with my durango and was wondering why im losing oil??? first when i bought the truck i did a oil change and at 850 miles i noticed my presure was low so checked the dip stick and found it to be low(not a single marking on dip stick) so i added 2 quarts and later at 2000 miles my oil light came on and off so same thing checked oil and nothing so i added 2 more quarts so lastly a week after that i decided to change oil and found out i had only 2 quarts in my oil but i checked and have very little oil drips on the ground but its not even from the motor looks to be by the tranny but anyways even with all the drips i have i know for sure im not losing it from the drips any help would be great and my 2nd problem is my engine is pinging like crazy even with high octane but not as bad any help would be great my truck is a 99 durango with 113,000 miles its a 5.2 v8 4x4...please help

Welcome to DF
Replace the pleunm gasket under the intake manifold. That fix your oil leak. And retard the timing for the pinging problem.

yes, that and sitting in the bottom of the intake (if the plenum is the problem)

Take the airhat off, look straight down the TB into the intake. Oil or liquid in there? Should be as dry as a bone. If wet, plenum.

I would suggest Hughes or APS to get their plenum delete kits and never have to do it again. Otherwise... you may be at it again at a later date.
