Default front carrier mounting boss

I just got a 2003 Durango 4wd with a 4.7 that has a knock and a bad water pump. This was supposedly overheated causing the knock.

I am either going to rebuild it with a crank kit, buy a yard engine, or go for a reman, I am not sure.

The one thing that comes up with a yard engine is if I need an engine with a front carrier mounting boss.

Anyone have any pictures if this? or know how to identify it?

Thanks
Dave

:-) Will do. I guess it goes without saying but your right. I have two bad cylinders #1 & #2

I will be pulling the engine apart this weekend. I will take some pictures of that and the resulting new build.

I believe it’s talking about on some 4.7 Ltr engine there is a bolt on the lh side of engine block mount to connect to the differential I think that’s what there talking about

Thread is over six years old. He's probably figured it out by now.
