Transmission Noise
OK another problem developing
When i change from park to drive or park to reverse there's a grating noise.
It shifts the the gears very smoothly otherwise
Any ideas
Thanks

That is a normal noise that the transmission makes, both of my Durango's make the same noise and they both have the 4.7 auto. trans.

its as though its not engaging in the gear fully from Park or Neutral to both drive and reverse and makes a grinding type noise.
Doesnt do it all the time though

It is really hard to describe and like I said before, it happens once in a while. My girlfriend has a 1998 Sebring and I can hear it on hers once in a while too. Does not affect the transmission as far as shifting goes while driving, just a peculiar noise when it happens.
