Door chime won't stop!
I don't know if it's related, but sometimes when my door is locked and when I go to unlock it, the horn blasts 3 times...I found an owner's manual for a Silencer Alarm system and in the book it says that if you unlock the car and it does that then someone has tampered with the security system (short would tamper right?). I also found a vallet switch (not attached to anything) and looked in the book for where it plugs in to see if I could cut off the system if it is in fact installed and could not find where it plugs in. I'm thinking there may be a short in the securtiy system, but wouldn't that have been discovered pulling fuses? Also, I checked to see if there was any other wires running to the battery's positive terminal, but the only thing running to it is the single factory cable, nothing spliced in...as far as I could see. You guys have been an amazing source of knowledge and help and I'm very grateful for that...I've gone into some automotive chats and they weren't the least bit helpful, just made "momma" jokes and I didn't have time for the infantile behaviors that is AOL. Thank you for your contributing help so far.

I took the left panel off from right inside the drivers side door under the dash and found a unit that said Daimler Chrysler and Motorola, I unplugged some off the connections going into it and found the one causing the chime...now with it unplugged, I cranked the car and I'm getting a "Service 4X4" light on the dash. Hope this helps for a possible diagnosis.
That is the CTM!!!!!
Well thanks!
Very well could be an issue that was in the aftermarket alarm system that was put in your truck. If you have a "vallet switch" then you had an aftermarket at one time. Those aftermarket systems really mess things up in the Durangos. Look in the dash fuse panel to see if you have a splice off or anywhere else?

This is the CTM...it appears to have crude cuts and what looks like melting of some sort...

This is what I found when I removed the panel around my steering column...it has a wire that is spliced but only to it's self, I guess they removed the alarm and just patched the gap...

there is also the remanants of a ground wire I'm guessing to the left of the picture
Sorry for just pasting links, I couldn't get the image uploader to accept the link without showing "This image has been removed or deleted"

that is definitely not normal (or good), and it does sound like you had an aftermarket alarm in the truck at some point, and it also sounds like it was very sloppily installed, hence causing problems, which is PROBABLY why it was removed
I would first look for any and all record of the aftermarket alarm system and see if they left any pieces in and check wiring.
Next do a alarm reset. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...going-off.html
After that maybe a CTM.
