Spectre Cold air intake
Once you use a Super Chips Tuner on your vehicle, it will be VIN locked, meaning you will only be able to use it on your vehicle. The only way to unlock a Super Chips is to reprogram your vehicle with that particular unit back to stock mode. There is no shops that I know of that offer a particular tune for your vehicle because of this. Flow Master offers the power and fuel gains warranty because of some vehicles having a choked up stock exhaust on their vehicles. Dodge has the exhaust pretty much tuned for the 4.7 in stock form. The so called power you may think that you have is mostly because of the larger growl type of sound you hear and also you are using more gas pedal pressure to produce that sound-meaning, it is all in your mind. Just because they are freer flowing than stock does not mean they are going to get you more power or better fuel mileage.
Well magic84 i have a cold air intake. and i guess a "freer" flowing exhaust. Flowmaster does garuntee power and fuel economy gains fro mtheir products. Also i'm gonna get the stock plugs friday and i'll run some lucas as well with my gas tanks. I suppose other than that and the partial tranny fluid change i'll just wait for that superchip/tuner. You guys dont know if shops will run a tuner on your car for a small fee do you? like go to a car shop/garage and see if they will run a chip for 50 bucks or somethin?
1)flowmaster's guarantee is not legit, just a marketing thing.(if you see gains from it great, but dont expect them)
2) stop using any additive in your gas/oil/ect, they do not help, and are not regulated by the government so they can be anything
3) im not sure i follow what you mean by a shop running a tuner, once you buy the handheld you can do it yourself, if you are talking about buying a chip tune, dont waste your money, these trucks are 'smart', theyw ill learn it is there and adjust themselves accordingly so you wont see the gains for long
Yeah well i figured that much about the flowmaster not really helping any. at most 1-2 horsepower that you can not feel but what i meant is instead of buying a tuner/superchip do shops have them on hand so they can program your car without you having to buy one but like magic84 said they lock to your coar until you program it back to stock. Alright thanks guys. Also how do you guys think true dual glasspacks will sound on a 4.7l? I was thinking about doing this sometime hopefully sooner then later.
yup i've probably seen all the durango exhaust vids on youtube lol! i probably seen em all twice! there might be a few that i havent seen because of popularity and views but i've seen just about all there are lol atleast 50 different durango's if not more! Thanks for the advice though!

AJoshi,
I and alot of other users have been around the block a few times conerning upgrades to get more power and mpg's without breaking the bank. So far, there is no noticable gains in power/mpg's when you spend anything under $100.
You will only notice the improvements as you continuously add upgrades here and there over time.
If you have not read the Chrysler article they issued a while while back about creating the perfect engine using their abbreviation MAGIC (multiple approaches to great internal combustion) engine. They were able to improve mpg/power by 20 percent on one of their magnum engine by improving lots of little areas and the total cost was not expensive individually.
When I got my R/T back in 01, I was in the same boat. Had a very tight budget and researched where to start first. From a cost perspective, it was cheaper to slowly work your way from top/bottom engine for external components.
Before you begin any upgrades, you must make sure you engine is in sound running condition so you won't have to go tracing for problems and lay blame to your upgrades. So get it tuned up, do all your required maintenance before starting.
This is how I started.
1. Get a OEM K&N filter replacement. $50-60
2. Build a home made ram air intake. $10
3. Hypertech III 5.9 Programmer. $300
4. Fastman 52mm Throttle Body. $225
5. Fastman Custom Built 46RE Tranny $1700
That's it for me for performance enhancements. These addon's was done over time as I had the money to do it. Items 4,5 were bought at the same time because I lost my tranny back in summer of 07 with only 84k miles. So I guess that was a plus for me! I did not really notice the kick in power until the Fastman Throttle body and HyperTech programming was added on. So far, all these upgrades did not do any improvements on mpg as my city driving which I am holding around 9-11 in town.
My next jump is to seriously upgrade the engine itself and then finish it by redoing the exhaust. If I can get my CFO wifey to approve this project, I will be hoping to push past the 500 HP mark. This project will be totally built and assembled by Dan Arcand from www.thefastman.com where I bought my throttle body and tranny from. Dan gave me an estimate for this monster build to be around $8500 for complete 6.7 crate with custom flashed pcm and dyno'ed report but not including exhaust. I am crossing my fingers I will get to start this project late fall. Once this is a go, I will definitely need to change my 5.9 badging on my R/T to 6.7!

Kensai i understand what you mean by the performance things. I guess i'll save up for a tuner/superchip/hyperchip then maybe in the future wheni actually have money a supercharger/turbocharger which is probably in the 2000-5000 dollar range???? That is a garuntee 100 horsepower right? Well being as i mentioned before that i am 18 working partime at minimum wage i dont know if all that stuff will be in the "near" future but if i'm lucky!
Also magic84 when i read the magic engine thing i thought of you to hahaha...just one thing to say about that...
