Premium sound speaker size?
Yeah? What differences does 2 vs 4 ohm make? Because i was literally out in the D for about an hour going through old Cd's listening to the speakers and they sound great and the bass and treble sound good.
Hey, do any of you know any specs on the factory amp that comes from dodge? i wanna rough estimate of wattage so i know what my speakers are putting out. I dont wanna blow these speakers too pushing them to hard. I mean for those with still stock deck i turn the bass and treble all the way up and crank the volume too 25-28 depending. which is fairly high I'd say
You can blow up speakers easier by under powering them. When the capacitor in the amp fires it also closes. This close is distorted sound trying to be reproduced by the speaker. Have you ever heard of THD (total harmonic distortion) ratings on amps and decks. It is measured in a percentage. The lower the rating the better, usually decks are >1% really good amps are in the .1-.01% range. When speakers are at low volume and power they are affected more greatly by this distortion that they can't recreate. When they are cranked up this closing of the capacitor is quicker and the speaker is affected less. Here are what your new speakers are rated at
CEA 2031 Speaker Rating:
Max RMS Power Capacity: 80W
Peak Power Capacity: 240W
Most oem amps can't produce 240w peak per channel. Some of the forum pages I ran across were saying closer to 60W peak for the factory amp. Remember audio companies build in a little cushion to there rating also. Hope this helps.

i see, so you're saying blasting my speakers wont do harm but under powering them aka low volume is not what they where meant for so it disrupts the flow of power which could cause more problems. and that my factory setting is at MAX 60 watts so I'm running maybe 20-25 watts to each speaker?
Hopefully i didn't fully mess up what you meant to say lol

No you got it. That the speaker has can't reproduce the distortion. Should have clarified that this won't just blow up speakers, it takes time just like overpowering speakers very frequently. Yes you nailed what your amp most likely puts out, if it were me I would find a good deal on a amp and replace the factory one. That's just me though, I think your speakers would sound better with more power (watts) at lower volume, but could you tell the difference with your exhaust, I don't know.
ok, well i'm fairly satisfied with how they sound. since they've been blown for yeah like 2 years lol i got used to no bass what so ever so this is a big jump for me. i might get a small sub. maybe
and my exhaust inside the cab is actually very bearable lol its when i need to keep the tail gate open that it gets annoying haha with the windows down while driving it sounds clear and throaty like a stang!

Yeah? i would probably put my amp under the little compartment in the back and have my single sub sit on top of it. that way if i need that space i can un hook the amp and be good.
I gotta buddy who builds inclosures so you never know. lol
