Default mmm... super 44's, 40's, or 50's???

ok i have a 02 durango slt+ 4.7, Its competly stock right now, but anyhow theres a contest going on where you can win a pair of flowmaster 40's, 44's, or 50's. and if i win what should i pick to stick on the durango which i belive it would just be like stock.

iv always liked super 44's but will it be extremly loud? i just want a good deep, non raspy/drone sound but also that isnt loud, louder then stock but not to much. im not really looking for peformance.

and is the stock muffler outlet/inlet 2.5? you can pick from 2.5 or 3in and was wondering if i should get a custom exhuast put on with the muffler i pick or can i find a 3in kit online thats mederal (spelling lol) bent with no muffler? Thanks!

i know as far as my rig goes, i have the flowmaster 50 series, and that thing is a beast. not terribly loud, but that kind of sound that turns your head to see who's got some pipes.

also you are looking for mandrel bent. just an fyi though, i got a full catback flowmaster 50 series with new piping and a nice tip for 225$ installed....

not that expensive to make it look good, and sound awesome.

The stock exhaust is 2.5". If all you want is a little better than stock than go with the 50 series. I went with the 40 because the durango is already pretty loud on the hwy and so a little extra noise isn't a bother.

i looked up 40s, 44's, and 50's series exhust vids on youtube and im not sure if its just the camera but all of them just dont seem like there that much louder. maybe its just because im use to a camaro with no muffler idk lol. maybe i'll try 44's but i still dont know. how much are custom 3in exhuast from a shop installed with these with a high flow cat and if you already have a muffler? im just looking for a guess on a price not a exact price or anything.

a high flow cat will NOT gain you anything, dodge gave us a very good flowing cat from the factory on these trucks so no reason to change it unless yours is no longer any good.

the y pipe might help, headers wont do much for a stock, or near stock build on a 4.7, you really need to be pushing some additional hp for headers to be worth the money, keep in mind the stock cat is 2.5in like the rest of the exhaust, maybe put a better y pipe in (same size tho) and then up the size after the cat, since a high flow cat is expensive (i think i saw 800 or so on magnaflow's website at one point)

so do you think its better to stick to like a custom 2.5 system then? im worried 3in might be an overkill and take away some torque which i dont want.

yup keep it at 2.5 until you get a build in excess of 500hp IMO (if you are investing that kind of money you will do the research to get the best gain for your money)
