Default trans fluid low, no visible leaks

ok so i noticed my truck doing some extra gear hunting on me going uphill on the highway (55-60 speed limit) and sooo i checked the trans fluid when i got home and it was low so i added to top it off (DUH!) but it took more than 1/2 a quart, and i cannot find a single visible leak (im going to search much more thoroughly this weekend when i do the oil change) so any ideas where the fluid is going to?

master tech? pete? hydra?

btw 2002 4.7lv8 4x4, 545rfe trans, 93k miles, fluid has been changed at factory interval (60k i believe)

ill check anything out this weekend when i get under it but new places to check would be great, thanks

Could be heat and evaporation. Might wanna do a trans filters/fluid change.

You may also want to ck for any flash updates for shift improvements.

well since i added the fluid its shifting fine, great in fact, but i will check into any flash updates anyway, how much would a dealership charge for a flash update?

and hydra, that was my thought too, but my dad seems to think 1/2 a quart is too much to be blamed on evaporation,

I had the same issue last year as well with mine. It was just over 1/2 quart low??????

There was no leaks so I figured it had to be evaporation and user error. Also check into the transfer case for leakage between the two. I have never seen a leakage between them and don't know if it is possible (meaning a hollow area in the wedding ring) but I have seen that on a few trucks. Look at the level in the transfer case, hell you might need a change anyway.

yea no leaks from anywhere i spent a half hour under there with a 3watt led maglite looking for something and couldnt find ANY leaks, so i guess im gonna have to write it off to evaporation and keep a closer eye on it . . .

Also check the transfer case level as well.
